The Slow Readers Club are a British indie band formed in Manchester in 2009, known for their brooding synth textures, driving rhythms and emotionally direct songwriting, the band have built a reputation as one of the UK's most compelling independent acts and we are thrilled they will be playing Words and Music Festival at the Civic Hall on Saturday 17th October.
In 2025, they released their seventh studio album, Out of a Dream, reaching No.11 on the UK Albums Chart. The album further refined their blend of synth-driven drama and soaring melody, showcasing a band confident in both their sound and their independence.
With a distinct identity of their own, their sound blends post-punk intensity with electronic atmospherics and anthemic, communal choruses.
